Preparation for Accurate Bra Size Measurement at Home
Accurate bra sizing starts with the right preparation. These simple steps will help you measure your bust and band with precision, ensuring the best fit and support. Before using the Bra Size Calculator, follow these steps to make sure your measurements are as accurate as possible.
Wear a non-padded bra
Choose a lightly lined or unpadded bra that reflects your natural shape. This helps you get the most realistic measurement without added volume.
Stand in front of a mirror
Use a full-length or bathroom mirror to check that the measuring tape stays straight across your back and chest. This ensures even placement and reduces common mistakes.
Use a soft measuring tape
Grab a soft measuring tape the cloth kind works best. It’ll follow your curves more comfortably and give you a better reading.
Keep the tape flat and snug
Lay the tape flat against your skin without twisting or pulling too tightly. A smooth, snug fit gives a true reading without distorting your measurements.
Measure on bare skin or thin clothing
For best results, measure directly on your skin or over a thin tank top or T-shirt. Avoid bulky clothing, which can affect accuracy.
Relax your posture and breathe naturally
Stand comfortably with your shoulders relaxed and arms at your sides. Breathe normally while measuring to reflect your natural size and shape.
Check and round your measurements
Take each measurement twice to confirm accuracy. Round the final numbers to the nearest whole inch or centimetre before using the bra size calculator.

Step – 1. Measure Your Band Size
Stand upright and wrap a soft measuring tape around your ribcage, directly under your bust. The tape should feel snug but not tight, sitting flat against your skin. Make sure it’s level all the way around. Round your measurement to the nearest whole number in inches or centimeters, depending on your preference.

Write down this number in inches or centimeters.
Step – 2. bust measurement (cup size)
Wrap your measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest and make sure it’s not riding up your back or dipping too low in the front. Stand naturally and breathe normally for the most accurate result. This measurement helps determine your cup size and is key to finding the right bra fit. Round it to the nearest inch or centimeter.

Calculate Bra Size Manually
If you prefer to find your bra size without using a Bra Size Calculator, it’s easy to do it yourself at home. All you need are two simple measurements your band size and your bust size.
Step 1: Measure your band size by wrapping a tape snugly around your ribcage, just under your bust.
Step 2: Measure your bust size around the fullest part of your chest.
Step 3: Subtract your band size from your bust size to find the difference. This number determines your cup size.
Example:
If your band size is 34 inches and your bust size is 37 inches, the difference is 3 inches. That means your cup size is C, so your full bra size would be 34C.
Band Size | Bust Size | Difference | Cup Size | Bra Size |
---|---|---|---|---|
34 in | 37 in | 3 in | C | 34C |
Cup Size Guide:
- 1 inch difference = A cup
- 2 inches = B cup
- 3 inches = C cup
- 4 inches = D cup
- 5 inches = DD or E
- and so on…
This manual method is a great way to double-check your bra size and compare it with the result from our Bra Size Calculator. Using both can help ensure you get the most accurate and comfortable fit possible.

Hand-measured fitting methods
Here I will guide you how to measure your bra size at home.
Finding your bra size is easy and simple when you know how to measure! You just need two things
(1) A soft measuring tape and
(2) The tables from the image.
Here’s how to do it step by step.
Find your band size (lower bust)
The band size is the part of the bra that goes around your chest, right under your breasts. Here’s how to measure it:
Step 1: Measure your lower bust. Wrap the soft measuring tape around your chest, just under your breasts. Keep it straight and not too tight.
Step 2: Check the number. Look at what you measured in centimeters (or inches if that’s what you’re using).
For example:
If it’s 67-71 cm, your band size is 32/70.
If it’s 72-76 cm, your band size is 34/75.
If it’s 77-81 cm, your band size is 36/80.
If it’s 82-87 cm, your band size is 38/85.

Tip 1: If your measurement is between two sizes (like 71 cm), try the smaller band size first (like 32/70). See if it feels comfy!
Tip 2: The band should feel snug but not squeeze you. It shouldn’t ride up your back when you move.
Helpful Hint: Ask a trusted adult or friend to hold the tape if it’s hard to do alone!
Find your cup size (upper bust – lower bust)
The cup size is about how full your breasts are. You’ll need two measurements for this one!
Step 1: Measure your upper bust. Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your breasts. Wear a bra with no padding for this.
Step 2: Subtract your lower bust. Take the upper bust number and subtract the lower bust number (the one from your band size).
Step 3: Check the difference.
Look at the table to find your cup size:
5-9 cm difference = A cup
9-12 cm difference = B cup
12-16 cm difference = C cup
16-18.5 cm difference = D cup
18.5-20 cm difference = E cup

Tip 1: If your difference is close to two sizes (like 12 cm), try both cups (like B and C) to see which fits better.
Tip 2: When you try on a bra, the cups should fit perfectly—no gaps or spilling over!
